If your teeth are misaligned, crooked, crowded, or spaced, traditional braces may be the answer. If your general dentist in Edmonton has recommended that you see an orthodontist with us at Great Smile Family Dental, you can rest assured that you are in good hands and that you really can achieve a beautiful, straight, healthy smile!
Although Invisalign certainly is a viable option for many people, people with more severely misaligned teeth may not be eligible. There is no better option than traditional braces when it comes down to heavy-duty correction.
Small brackets will be attached to each tooth that will need to be aligned. Then, a small wire is attached to the brackets. It will slowly be tightened and changed out for different wires over the course of months until your bite is completely aligned. It can be uncomfortable, especially the first couple of days after each tightening, but in the end, you will have a beautiful smile for the rest of your life!
After the treatment with braces is complete, it is usually recommended that you wear a retainer as often as possible immediately following your procedure. If this guidance is not followed, your teeth will begin to revert to the way they were before. Closely follow all instructions given to you by your orthodontist.
Before Great Smile Family Dental can fully recommend the use of traditional braces, certain things will need to be considered, and x-rays will likely need to be taken as well. If you have one of the following conditions, you may be a good candidate for traditional braces:
If you have any of the conditions mentioned above and you live near Edmonton, give Great Smile Family Dental a call today to set up an appointment.
